Artist Of The Month For January 2021- Daniel Meakin
Daniel's paintings are exceptionally multicolored, overjoyed, and stimulating- waking us from our unaware slumber.
Meakin has completed European fine art education from Barcelona and Winchester School of art. Not only are his paintings fused with academic fundamentals of art, like form, colour, and texture, but also screech the maximalist style in a fashionable sensibility.
There is no dearth of concepts, meaningful identities, and multifarious objects.
Instead, each painting is a disclosure of a new tale and experiences.
Daniel's paintings may be self-dependent, but they illustrate his dynamic personality. Although they follow the standard norms of art, like composition, balance, and union, they break it at a threshold of maximalist perspective: more is better.
As if the colours and forms will leave the canvas and hop out at any moment.
I can’t help to wonder if the frame is a barrier or limitation to these mobile and verbose objects? Technically, answers lie in the eyes of the beholder because an artist expresses in the completest energy, which is absolutely evident in the case of Meakin's oeuvre.
Maximalism was a counter-movement to Minimalism, where the ideology of 'less is more' was looked down on as a limitation. Minimalism was prone to fabrication. And, maximalism stands strengthened by diverse attributes and manoeuvres.
While one painting is a cityscape, the other is a beautiful country landscape with serene colours. In some paintings, Meakin also renders portraits in folk style, as if formulating a concept hidden deep in rhythm and poetics of obscure socio-political language.
Only the one who is equipped with patience can decode the enchanted figures to know what is brewing beyond the manifested forms. However, Meakin's dialect of visual does not stream one style rater combines the historic art movements like cubism, pop art, fauvism, and op-art or optical art, specifically.
Each painting in his repository deludes the viewer while proposing a sardonic quirk between the lines, or here it is jubilant forms. Nevertheless, Meakin's passionate zeal swiftly makes a road for all his subconscious thoughts and impressions!
