The Greek philosopher Heraclitus, and an Indian enlightened soul, Gautama Buddha have stated, “Nothing is permanent except change”.

Natalia Millman's oeuvre essentially narrates the philosophy of impermanence of physical beings. Assembled without a bias towards their original identity, her installations employ a mixture of materials.

Mostly, they are from building sites.

Treading an abstract road of re-creation, what we see may have an origin in the material and real-world but the artworks are in a constant process of philosophizing the temporality of life and living.

Exploring several genres of art, each medium bears a conceptual reference, context, and eventual signification.

Natalia moved to London from Ukraine in 2001 and teaches at Insight School of Art since 2013.

Natalia practices sculptural installation, mixed media, performance art, and photography. Meddling in diverse mediums traces a will to deliver a unique yet precise context to the audience.

Owing to an unfortunate experience of her father’s loss due to dementia, her art practice generally enquires analyses and displays a range of sentiments like vanity, physical decay, and fear of mortality.

Adopting several mixed means to develop surreal languages, Natalia shares, “My mission is to notice beauty in ageing body and mind and to personally heal through this creative process”.

It is interesting to note these objects, which do not belong to a particular timeline but speak of the same thing: decay. Either the decay is complete or subordinated, where the debris is in the act of eventual annihilation.

Natalia has been part of several art exhibitions and contributes blogs to elaborate her concepts.
