Feral Neighbourhoods - FLORESTA Open Call

Call for submissions for a digital exhibition around the theme of Feral Neighbourhoods.

Feral ecologies are ecological worlds that emerge from human infrastructural projects, but which have developed and spread beyond human control. They are what happens when non-human life gets entangled with human structures in unanticipated ways. We are looking for works based on your observations, documentations and/or interactions with feral ecologies within your local environments and neighbourhoods.

The focus of your work need not be limited to non-human species. We encourage submissions that explore how feral ecologies generate new flows between human and non-human life, or how human infrastructures have shaped the way communities engage with non-human species and each other.

We would especially like to see works that incorporate critical thinking, cultural reflection, documenting and archiving.

Who is it for: We are only open to submissions by those who identify as being from a marginalised gender, traditionally underrepresented and/or historically excluded community.

Benefit: Digital publication and a showcase of selected works, works remain in digital archive indefinitely, the potential for physical exhibition opportunity for UK-based artists who are selected (currently in progress, not definite yet).

Deadline: 07. February 2022
