Tethered Publics is a curatorial project exhibiting digitally mediated site-specific art. We are building a mobile app that ties digital artworks to physical locations to create a hybrid experience of place and art. App users will have to visit locations in order to experience artworks. Users can seek out work via the app or get notified when there is one nearby in their daily travels.
This open call is inviting all artists to create an artwork in response to a chosen location within the South London boroughs of Southwark or Lewisham. All artwork proposals must be inseparable from the location they are responding to, that is the sole criterion for this project. The rest is up to you.
Deadline: 20. June 2022
Who is it for: Any artist with a contemporary practice over the age of 18 can apply, including students. All proposals must be able to be mediated through an IOS mobile device. This includes media such as text, AR 3D Models, web views, audio, video, images, networked services and more.
Benefit: If your proposal is accepted your work will be exhibited in our first exhibition within the app. Currently, we are looking to build collaborative relationships and unfortunately can only offer this as an unpaid opportunity. Depending on the needs and feasibility of your proposal, we may be able to provide technical expertise to help you realise your vision.
